Green tea/general tea: Why does cold tea prep lower the amount of caffeine released from the tea leaf?

I have this large box of Matcha blend tea (in individual tea bags) and I was reading the tips printed on the box. One of them said that “Cold tea preparation lowers the amount of caffeine released from the tea leaf”. I was just wondering if anyone knew the reason why difference in temperature would affect the caffeine level?

I read somewhere that you can just steep it longer for the same amount of caffeine, but I was just wondering the mechanics on why cold water prep is different. Scientific related answers greatly appreciated and will help ease my curiosity

Caffeine is just extracted more efficiently by hot liquids. Cold brewed coffee also has less caffeine than regular from the same beans. Freeze-dried coffee is just previously brewed coffee that’s had the water removed: the cold didn’t destroy the caffeine. Much of the caffeine is removed with the water.

You can also reduce the caffeine in your tea (if that’s what you’re looking for) by brewing it with hot water for 30 seconds, dumping out the liquid, and brewing with fresh water as normal. Most of the caffeine is extracted at the beginning in hot water.

Both coffee and tea are decaffeinated by chemical processes (primarily ethyl acetate or CO2), not by exposure to cold.
